Inigo Kennedy y Ashley Burchett (ø[Phase]) nacieron en Londres, pero fue en Bélgica donde fundaron su sello Token, de eso hace ahora siete años. Durante todo este tiempo han desarrollado una actividad frenética, lanzando proyectos de Grovskopa, Oscar Mulero o Go Hiyama. En 2012, Burchett publicó Binary Opposition, el trabajo que marcó un hito en la trayectoria de Token, convirtiéndolo en una referencia inexcusable del techno europeo. Sensible siempre a todo cuanto huela a nuevo, a arriesgado e innovador.
Aphelion es su último lanzamiento. Un álbum con nueve pistas que reúne a los artistas más significativos de la casa, además de otros colaboradores atraídos por el fascinante interés del proyecto. Al final de camino, funciona como una retrospectiva de talentos complementarios, que sitúa a Kennedy y Burchett en medio del eje estratégico que une Londres (Ruskin, Surgeon, Slater, Blawan y Pariah) y Berlín (Lucy y Rødhåd).
Sin embargo, está muy lejos de ser la enésima recopilación definitiva que llama a tu puerta. A pesar de juntar bajo el mismo techo a varios de los nombres más destacados del techno actual, es un disco tremendamente coherente y homogéneo, donde el conjunto destaca sobre cualquier presunción individual.
Obviando la pretensión de marcar tendencias, aquí encontrarás una corriente completa que, a buen seguro, será bailada en los clubs de medio mundo y será remezclada por ejércitos de seguidores. En esta escena, las ideas fluyen y se conectan en contactos multibanda, por encima de incompatibilidades firmadas en los respectivos contratos comerciales.
Aphelion es una de las muestras más brillantes del techno contemporáneo, con un empuje y una sacudida llenos de potencia y vigor. Dinámica, densa y profunda. Sienta cátedra a la hora de demostrar la vigencia del género, la vitalidad de sus protagonistas y su poder de agitación.

NewsSimone Gatto, con su segundo lanzamiento en Out-ER, confirma su serena manera de entender la electrónica.
Debido al virtuosismo en el manejo de maquinaria específica, aquí se muestra un sonido que pretende transmitir sus propios pensamientos. A veces apacibles, a veces más oscuros. Según nos cuenta, cada uno de los tracks representa una acción contra las dificultades de la vida. Igual que los buenos momentos se alternan con los malos, nuestras acciones causan consecuencias que deben ser encaradas.
Holzwege EP es un inequívoco guiño al sonido Detroit absolutamente recomendable.

The music of Silvie Loto can be quite an enchanted place. The tracks of her „Crying Love EP“ reinforce this presumption. Inside are wonderful electronic musings, predestinated for hopelessly getting lost.
With her melodies, this talented Italian artist, sets emotional priorities. Fragments of her voice are smartly installed. Deeply laid-back rhythms frame the multilayering atmospheres.
The title track leads the way and gives rise to a pleasurably floating experience. Hereafter „Flow“ is flowing very close to the heart centre. The third track, „Breeze“, is even more lost in reverie and manifests deep emotions. At the end, „Woo“ takes us on a trip far outside with its beats and the whopping wafting tones.

El país de las maravillas
Klara Lewis es una joven y extraña compositora sueca que irrumpió este año en la escena electrónica con «Ett», publicado en Editions Mego. Siguiendo este lanzamiento, ahora nos presenta 4 nuevos tracks con los que continúa explorando las posibilidades del sonido.
En «Msuic EP» ejemplifica su extraña habilidad para aprovechar las influencias del mundo exterior, con el fin de reconstruirlo y representarlo como una materia musical orgánica, aparentemente amorfa. Estas 4 nuevas canciones manifiestan una cierta ambigüedad respecto a lo que se espera de una artista electrónica. Los estándares referidos al ritmo, al ambiente, las texturas, la luz y la oscuridad están presentes, pero son difíciles de alcanzar. Son piezas hechas con una calidad emocional que concluye en la manifestación de una música y sonido intensísimos, casi brutales.
Como sugiere el título, «Msuic» te coloca en una zona familiar, aunque ligeramente desenfocada, algo así como un universo inventado por ella misma al que te invita a entrar y en el que te permite explorar libremente. En definitiva, una colección de música con material fantástico diseminado a su alrededor.

About the release:
The twentieth anniversary of Kanzleramt marks a significant milestone in the career of Heiko Laux. Label owner since the beginning in 1994, he brings to us his impressive fifth solo album filling a void in contemporary electronic music. Keeping consistent to his style, rhythmically challenging patterns flutter throughout the album making it a solid, coherent 8-piece composition. Hints of Detroit techno permeate the collection with drastic chord changes that gently tinker with the boundary between techno and trance.
With nature as a strong influence in the creative process, the replication of its kookaburra trill can be found throughout each piece. However, the bird itself carries significance in this collection, as it is a migratory bird that can found in many habitats similar to an individual suffering from fernweh.
With the first track “Brace” as a smooth introductory to the album, a steady downtempo slowly climbs into a persuasive bass-line setting the tone for the succeeding tracks. “Hexagon” on the other hand dives straight into a deep resounding kick making it clear this collection is also effective on the dance floor. The title track, “Fernweh,” plays a significant role in the essence of the album not only toying with its definition but in its resonating tone. With the meaning as a desire to be anywhere but the familiar, simultaneously distorted violins and ominous organs embody a longing for a far off land. Slow pattering hi-hats filled with reverb resonate to resemble a timeless techno sound. Imagination wanders far and wide wondering if we are on earth or traveling far out into the constellations.
“Neutron,” the fourth track on the album acts a perfect mediator, cutting the compilation into two whilst keeping consistent with galactic sonorities, it makes way for the next track “There There”. With its bouncing bass that mimics a throbbing acid line, it is a powerful track made with the dance floor in mind as it climaxes into rhythmic cymbals. “Shimmer” arrives with perfect timing, acting as a short peacemaker cleansing the palate. With its calming tone, the overlaying palpitations, it longingly awaits the heavy kick of “Rowing.” Consistent of the albums modulating notes and references to remoteness, its title references the journey of not only listening but also creating this collection as a whole. With “Align” as a very powerful final track, it slowly begins to decompress, each note beginning to vanish gently helping you land with feet back on the ground.
It is with great passion and experience that Heiko Laux is able to bring to us such an emotive and climactic selection as Kanzleramt continues to occupy the abyss in today’s techno culture.
